A Random Photography Thought

Something I learned from experience:

The ones who come out with the best photos are not even trying.

It's a point when you transcend technicals, and start merging them with your imagination.. only then you'd see real light.

Technicalities can stand in the way of true creativity and end up stifling the true beauty of the image with details and rules.

Really, if there was an 11th Commandment, that should be it.

Not all the time my friend. I believe in the perfect marriage of both. Rules and theory are there for a reason. It is the base from where creativity is born from.

It's easier to do a job right, than to explain why you didn't.

The SLR is just an instrument. And all rules are about how to use it in a right way. Without imagination there is only image. But both help to create art.
:iconfuzzyyak:
But when those rules prevent you from creating something beautiful, surely they are more destructive than good?

I'm trying to fuse both though not only in photography. Though sometimes i feel that creativity is beyond mere understanding technical skills, i don't, i just feel it sometimes. There are few people who would enlighten me on such things, thank you for reminding.

Rules are there for a reason. Imagine a craft that didn't have any, then such craft would exist at all. Like I said, it's a marriage (and a partnership), each must co-exist, and not overpower one another.

I definitely agree. Just like everything having two sides. The marriage of both make it good and worth while.

we all know the whats, the hows and the when. what we usually forget is "the why"

Oh, I absolutely agree with you. Rules are a necessity, but I feel that they sometimes prevent people from creating images that are as good as they could be, because they try too hard to conform to the rules.
